Which should demonstrate once again to the wingnuts that fuel extracted from Canada is sold on the world market and has no destiny to remain in North America simply because it is extracted in North America. No, we don't need Keystone XL, because the oil that flows through it will also be EXPORTED.

that's right.
they're going to sell OUR energy overseas instead of giving OUR people the benefit of lower prices based on a larger supply.
we should have a NATIONAL oil company instead of these INTERNATIONAL OIL VULTURES.

That would help keep the drilling for Natural Gas going. At this time there is an abundance and some of the wells are being shut down. This could be partially alleviated if obama would support Natural Gas in Vehicles both public and private. What is he getting for not doing so?

Would it not make more economic sense for Canada and the US to use the "natural gas to liquids" technology to convert the natural gas to diesel, kerosene and gasoline here in their own countries AND then ship the resulting end product to Europe and India. This would add additional permanent jobs here and avoid the very costly natural gas liquefaction process, storage and pumping infrastructure. In addition building "natural gas to liquids" plants would add to each countries strategic abilities to supply its domestic needs if there are disruptions in the operation of the current motor vehicle fuel production facilities or if supplies of imported crude oil and refined fossil fuel products were to be cut off for any reason.
The "natural gas to liquids" technology is discussed in an article below titled 'Shale Glut Becomes $2 Diesel Using Gas-to-Liquids Plants' posted by schow on October 25th.

It just shows that there is such an abundance of natural gas that we should be looking towards that sector to use as an alternative to power other things.

The is more natural ags than there is demand so producers are seeking a market. It would be nice instead than we use much more of the stuff to power our cars and trucks.

They have to do something with it. Demand is insufficient for all the gas being produced. Many wells are being capped and in Bakken they're flaring off about 30% of their gas production.

Interesting. But WHERE will he get the gas. There is an unfortunate 'keep it here' mentality in the US for natural gas AND if natural gas were to be exported from the US because of the shale boom it would make sense to build the facility in the US.
And while I know Canada has an oil boom due to tar sands, I'm not aware of a natural gas boom - so the question remains - WHERE does the gas come from?
HOWEVER, weaning Europe off of Czar Vladimir I's supplies from Russia would be a VERY good thing.

Nova Scotia Could Be Home to $5B Liquefaction Terminal, if the US can do it why not Canada too! Big Oil and Big Gas exports fuel and natural gas to other countries that will pay more for it, much more than here. There will be NO price reduction or cheaper prices for natural gas IN the US, so it does NOT matter how much crude oil or natural gas is produced. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! XII/XXII/MMXII!
