EIA: Gasoline inventories see increase in all regions

GasBuddy Blog -- The Energy Information Administration released its weekly report on the status of petroleum inventories in the United States today.

Here are some highlights:

CRUDE INVENTORIES:
Crude oil inventories decreased by 0.3 million barrels to a total of 374.1 million barrels. At 374.1 million barrels, inventories are 39.4 million barrels above last year (11.8%) and are above the upper limit of the average range.

GASOLINE INVENTORIES:
Gasoline inventories increased by 3.9 million barrels to 204.3 million barrels. At 204.3 million barrels, inventories are down 5.6 million barrels, or 2.7% lower than last year. Here's how individual regions and their gasoline inventory fared last week: East Coast (+1.3mb); Midwest...

The biggest is simply to slow down. Unless one is on an 8 hour trip, jack rabbit starts and fast driving save only seconds on a drive.

In fact, one station here went from 3.89 to 4.09 overnight for diesel while gas fell from 3.35 to 3.29. Hmmm.. can anyone say subsidizing...?

Also these same areas that have higher gas prices, which could mean there is a link between supply and demand.

With domestic refining capacity far exceeding domestic demand, that means inventories are not crucial as our refiners can easily produce what we need when we need it. But, because our dollar is being made less valuable due to our government printing so many of them, the world price of gasoline pulls up what we pay at the pump since others outside the US see gas as being relatively cheap.
