Beware 'urban legends' suggesting gas boycotts

GasBuddy Blog -- Facebook, like all other sources of social media, shares information at lightning speed, but it's up to you to determine facts from fiction. They don't have any filters for common sense through which messages must pass.

If you have email or a Facebook account, undoubtedly at some point you've received some interesting, unsolicited communication designed to help consumers become personally involved in an effort to reduce the price of gas at the pump.

The latest version arrived via Facebook this past weekend telling us "Don't pump gas on April 15, 2012". It suggested that if your tank was running low, then you should buy your gas on April 14 or today, April 16.

What gas that was not bought on the boycott day, will be bought the previous days or the next day or a few days after the boycott. Big oil and Barry will do what they want to keep gas prices at the pump high. You Have No Control With Big Oil or Barry! Fill the fuel tank when the price of fuel is going up or stable, buy a minimum amount or for about 3 days when the price of fuel is going down. Try to keep the amount of fuel dollars spent to a minimum. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible! The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

I know that I would! If we weren't saving the 300,000 to 600,000 barrels or so a we are now, then prices would be higher still.

Let's not buy gas 1-2 weeks & they Might get the message.
