Today's virtual technology offers better understanding of driver issues and innovations both for the vehicles themselves and for the automotive engineers who design them. And while everything from homes to cars to highways are being designed with an eye on the aging of America, Ford finds that its ergonomics approach is yielding benefits for motorists of all ages.

Wes Sherwood, Ford's quality communications manager, explains:

"We do extensive research to ensure the comfort of our vehicles. You want...

Can't say I care much for all of the techno garbage on todays cars. Ford and their Sync seem to be leading the pack.
I thought "they" were trying to get us to move away from road clogging cars and use mass transit.
Seems to me if you make cars more comfortable people will just want to sit in them for longer periods of time and play with all of the gizmos.
LOL.

How did we ever manage in the old days? Truthfully I love the bells and whistles, but it seems there is much more to repair.

grew up in my moms 1970 maverick. only thing it had was an AM radio. would like to see a vehicle today without all the extras (but having a/c). could really lower the price and get rid of a lot of too expensive repairs.

The electric motors for the door windows Do Not last as long as the mechanism to roll the window up and down with the handle. I can roll the window up and down faster than the electric motor can!
Produce vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. I will continue to drive my current vehicle into the ground before buying anything new, old, different, EV, Inbred, concept, Ford or anything else.

The Ford Escort is the most uncomfortable vehicle I have ever driven or ridden in.

Wish carmakers would put better motors in doors so windows can go up/down. Or just put the hand crank back in - they last a LOT longer!

Now how did they do that without Obama stealing billions of taxpayer dollars to pay back the UAW?

I still roll up my own windows and lock the doors manually. Didn't realize i was in an alternate universe. The history museum is asking for my Nokia phone too. :-)
